I found a shortcut on my path to growing a green thumb. Now the real test is can I keep plants alive with a boost in the beginning?
I was shopping for some patio flowers (yes, late in the game to save cash. I'm used to buying a second round of flowers mid-summer after the first round succumbs to my lack of green thumb.) when I stumbled upon an 'all in one' kit to container garden.
My first thought was to look at what's included and go off on my own to gather supplies. Then my injured ego from previous years of trying to successfully garden won out, and I bought the pre-packaged kit.
The City Pickers Patio Garden Kit includes step-by-step instructions on creating a successful garden. I bought a few starter plants, including tomatoes and peppers and dug in as soon as I returned home. Luckily, I purchased "potting mix" not realizing there is even a difference between "potting soil" - who knew??? I did however skip one step in the process - using organic mix instead of the suggested fertilizer. In the end I could blame this step for any failures right?
I am happy with the mini-garden gracing our deck. If this is successful perhaps I will attempt a full garden in the backyard next growing season.
