24 full-time positions eliminated at Mercy Hospital Grayling
Mercy Hospital Grayling has cut 24 full-time positions.
According to a hospital spokeswoman, the hospital made the staff reductions "in order to respond to changes brought on by healthcare reform."
Hospital officials say they are experiencing a significant decline in the number of people they are seeing for care in the hospital and their clinics. They are also seeing a reduction in reimbursements.
Twenty-four full-time positions were eliminated. An additional 11 positions will be eliminated through normal turnover and not filling open positions or department wide reduction in hours or job sharing.
The spokeswoman for the hospital says the community can expect to experience "the same high level of care and compassion they have come to expect from the hospital."
