David M. Zechman has been named as the new president and CEO of McLaren Northern Michigan.
After a nationwide search, hospital officials offered the job to Zechman, who has been serving as President and CEO of Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri since 2008.
Zechman brings 31 years of healthcare and leadership experience to the 202-bed hospital, including nearly seven years as CEO.
"He has a proven track record in hospital and health system executive management with a passion for clinical quality and service excellence," said Bob Foster, chairman of the board of trustees. "David's ability to engage physicians and colleagues in providing exceptional patient care will be an asset to McLaren Northern Michigan and the entire community."
Zechman has previously worked at hospitals in Florida, Kentucky and Missouri.
The national search began after current President and CEO, Reezie DeVet, announced her retirement last April.
DeVet will remain in her current position until the end of the year to help with the transition.
"David is such a strong choice," said DeVet. "He has been successful leading a health system offering a full continuum of care, and perhaps more importantly, has a thorough understanding of the challengers facing health care delivery in the rural environment."
Zechman received his undergraduate degree in Education from Miami University and a Masters in Public Administration from Cleveland State University.
