      15-year-old girl injured in Presque Isle County snowmobile accident

      A 15-year-old girl is in stable condition after a snowmobile accident in Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon.

      A 15-year-old girl is in stable condition after a snowmobile accident Saturday near Besser Bell and East Grand Lake Road in Presque Isle County.

      The Presque Isle County Sheriff's Office says two 15-year-old girls were riding a snowmobile through a heavily wooded trail around 1:50 p.m. when a branch hit the passenger, throwing her off the back of the snowmobile. A 15-year-old boy driving another snowmobile behind the girls was unable to stop and ran over the girl.

      All riders were wearing helmets.

      The 15-year-old girl was taken to Alpena Regional Medical Center for treatment, and is listed in stable condition. No details have been released on her specific injuries.

      The Presque Isle County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the accident.
