16-year-old formally charged for stabbing step-father
The 16-year-old boy who stabbed his 45-year-old step-father on Aug. 5 in Long Lake Township has been formally charged on Thursday.
The juvenile is facing charges of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon as well as assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder.
According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, the 16-year-old stabbed his step-father multiple times in the back and chest with a kitchen knife.
The mother and sister were home, but did not see the stabbing. The sister called 911.
The juvenile is in a detention facility in another county.
