A 16-year-old girl is in stable condition after she fell from her snowmobile and hit a tree Saturday.

The girl from Breckenridge, Michigan was riding with two other snowmobiles on a trail near Dickinson Road and 17 Mile in Newaygo County's Troy Township.

Michigan State Police say when the girl came up to a curve in the trail she was unable to maintain control of her snowmobile, causing her to fall off and hit a tree.

The 16-year-old was taken to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, and was later transported to the DeVos Children's Center in Grand Rapids because of her severe injuries.

Troopers say she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
