Authorities are investigating an accident involving a pickup truck and motorcycle that occured on Saturday afternoon, and claimed the life of two people.
At 2:34 p.m. Clare County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls about the accident on West Ludington Dr. near Oakridge Dr. in Surrey Township. Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene and determined a 17-year-old male from Clare was driving the pickup truck north bound on West Ludington.
The driver attempted to make a left hand turn onto Oakridge Dr., when he turned in front of a motorcycle that was traveling southbound on Ludington, causing the motorcycle to strike the pickup truck. The motorcycle was being driven by Ronald Underwood and occupied by Donna Underwood, both age 59, of Lake.
Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle died from their injuries, but both of them were wearing helmets.
The accident is still under investigation and authorities say that it is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
