25 car pileup shuts down US 131
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A portion of US-131 southbound is back open after chain reaction crash Wednesday afternoon.
Osceola County Undersheriff Justin Halladay says deputies were called to an accident near 2 Mile Road around 2 p.m.
Whiteout conditions caused several vehicles to be involved in a multiple car pileup while trying to avoid the first accident.
Southbound US-131 was shut down from 11 Mile Road in Osceola County to 19 Mile Road in Mecosta County until 5 p.m. while emergency personnel cleared the scene.
Undersheriff Halladay says approximately 25 cars, including two semi-trucks, were involved.
Two people were taken to the hospital.
Drivers who could not drive their car from the scene were transported by school bus to the Reed City Depot for security and shelter.
