Employees from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources decided to help in the fire suppression efforts as blazes travel through Oregon, Idaho and Washington State.
The DNR sent 32 employees who are trained firefighters to numerous wildfires in the Northwest.
Several employees will be carrying out essential fire-line leadership positions, while others will directly be putting out fires across a 20-acre terrain.
The DNR will continue providing assistance to the national fire efforts while conditions remain critical.
â??This is the time we can fulfill some reciprocating agreements with the federal government and with other states,â?? said Ada Takacs, DNR Department Specialist. â??Go out there and help them fight their fires and we get training in reverse.â??
DNR officials say that while some employees are away assisting in the fire suppression, the state is still well equipped to handle wildfires, should one occur in Michigan.
