      Chippewa County International Airport in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is getting nearly $3.4 million for runway rehabilitation work.

      U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin of Michigan on Thursday announced the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation .

      Plans call for replacing the cement surface on the main runway with asphalt.

      Stabenow and Levin say the work will boost business activity and tourism.
