$500,000 grant creating more than 100 jobs in Gaylord
Gaylord received a grant for more than $500,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation today.
The grant will go towards reconstruction of Dickerson Road and Oâ??Rourke Boulevard in Gaylord that includes installing a curb, gutter and storm drains, minor road widening, and an additional center and right turn lane.
The project will help support freight and employee traffic for AMIâ??s new manufacturing building.
AMI, which makes tubular products for the automotive industry, recently purchased a vacated building off Oâ??Rourke that is expected to create more than 100 jobs.
The City manager of Gaylord has high hopes that the plant will be very successful and knows that AMIâ??s intentions are well. He believes that Gaylord will see additional jobs created at that site for years to come.
AMI is investing more than 3 million dollars in new equipment and building upgrades.
