Nearly 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer wieners are being recalled because they may mistakenly contain cheese, The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
The "Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners" may actually contain the company's "Classic Cheese Dogs."
The agency said the product labels are incorrect and therefore do not accurately show the ingredients used.
They say a consumer discovered the mistake and alerted Kraft on Friday, who then alerted the USDA the next day.
The wieners were made in early March and have the "Est. 537H" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recall applies to 16-ounce individual consumer packages of "Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added" with a "use by" date of June 16, 2014 and a product code of 044700000632. It also applies to Cases of the 16-ounce packages that were distributed to retailers. It bears the same label and use by date, with a case code of 00447000005300.
There have been no reports of adverse reactions, the Associated Press reports.
