A frosty Sunday night
Mon, 23 Sep 2013 01:14:52 GMT —
Although we had some cloud cover around throughout the day today, clear skies and calm winds will let us cool down quite a bit Sunday night.
High pressure is north of Lake Superior and moving towards the east. This is working to clear out our skies, and cloud cover has already started decreasing significantly during the evening hours. Our winds will also become very light to calm.
Temperatures overnight into Monday will drop into the mid 20s and 30s across the area. If you have sensitive vegetation, take care to protect it overnight.
The National Weather Service had issued the following -
Frost Advisory 12am - 8am for : Chippewa, Mackinac, Presque Isle, Charlevoix, Antrim, Alpena, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Iosco, and Arenac counties. These areas are expected to fall into the low and mid 30s tonight, with milder weather towards the lakes. Expect frost tonight.
Frost Advisory 2am - 8am for : Luce County. Away from Lake Superior overnight lows will be right around 32 degrees, with some areas dropping as low as 25 degrees - expect frost. The closer you are to the lake, the closer your low temp will be to 40, and these areas can expect patchy frost.
Frost Advisory 2am - 9am for : Mason, Lake, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, and Montcalm counties. Temperatures will fall into the low and mid 30s, and widespread frost is expected.
Freeze Warning 12am - 8am for : Montmorency, Crawford, Oscoda, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Gladwin, Emmet, Cheboygan, Otsego, and Kalkaska counties. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s and low 30s. Widespread freezing temperatures are expected for an extended period of time and damage to sensitive plants is likely if they are not protected.
Freeze Warning 2am - 9am for : Osceola and Clare counties. Temperatures will be around 32 degrees for several hours tonight and into Monday morning.
A warm up is on the way for this week as high pressure remains in place. Expect lots of sunshine during the day with more lows in the 40s starting on Tuesday night.
