The man who police say shot and killed a State Trooper during a traffic stop in September was back before a Mason County judge Tuesday.
Eric Knysz will be going to trial and is set to begin on February 18th.
Some of Knysz??s family members and law enforcement officers were at the hearing.
Knysz is accused in the death of Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield. Knysz is facing five charges in Mason County including murder of a police officer, felony firearms, carrying a concealed weapon, auto theft and being a second-time offender. The charges could put him behind bars for life.
Knysz is also facing charges in Manistee County.
His wife Sarah Knysz is also facing charges in Mason County, which include being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Trooper Butterfield and unlawful driving away of an automobile.
