Marches and rallies against the seed giant Monsanto were held all around the world Saturday.

Thousands of people across 52 countries including the United States took part in the March Against Monsanto protests.

Here in northern Michigan more than 100 community members gathered at the open space in Traverse City to protest against the bio-tech corporation.

Organizers from ??No GMO for Michigan?? say they're calling attention to the dangers of genetically modified food and the companies that produce it.

They??re also hoping to talk about solutions to the problem and how people can take back their food supply.

Some believe GMO foods can lead to health problems and harm the environment.

Monsanto corporation officials released a statement Saturday saying they respect people's rights to express their opinion but they believe their seeds help farmers produce more food while conserving water and energy.
