Adoption options: Finding your new 'furry friend'

Meet BOYO, Rascal and Knuckles in this week's Adoption Options!

NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- Looking for a new best friend? Well, the animals below are looking for you too! Every Friday we will feature some very special dogs and cats that might steal your heart!

Say hello to Knuckles!

Knuckles is about four years old. He's active, sweet, affection and playful. Knuckles is also known as the best poser for photos!

To meet Knuckles just head to Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City. The phone number is: 231-946-5116.

Cherryland Humane Society also has a low cost spay and neuter service available through the month of February!

To take part in this program and get an appointment for your pet you can email Tbarbera@cherrylandhumane.org or call Tia Barbera at 231-946-5116

Meet Rascal!

When Rascal came to AC PAW he was a bottle baby at just two weeks old. After the first few days in his foster home, we noticed that he had trouble walking. Rascal was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a disorder that occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain which controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth. It can cause jerky movements, tremors, and generally uncoordinated motion.

The good news is that CH in cats is non-progressive, meaning it does not get worse with age. Rascal has a normal life expectancy and can live a happy and healthy life. He is not in any pain and is not contagious. He is a very affectionate, playful, sweet and loving three-month-old kitten. He will learn to adapt his abilities and compensate over time. With time, he may have the ability to walk, run, jump, and climb stairs. Rascal will return the extra care he will need with an intense love for and bond with his adoptive family.

If you would like to adopt Rascal, or for more information, fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire and someone with AC Paw will contact you.

AC Paw will host its 8th Annual Spay-Ghetti Dinner Fundraiser Sunday, February 18th at the Alden Bar & Grille.

The event supports pet spaying and neutering to reduce the euthanasia of homeless animals in our local shelters. All proceeds will go to benefit AC PAW's and NorthWoods Animal Coalition (NAC)'s spay and neuter rescue efforts.

In addition to dinner, there will be a LIVE & SILENT AUCTION, 50/50 Raffle, and family fun to raise funds for a great community cause. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12, children 4 and under are free.

Say hello to BOYO!

Look at handsome BOYO! BOYO is a 10 years old German Shepherd who is good with kids, cats and dogs. BOYO is housebroken and can't wait to find his forever family!
