A fter nearly a dozen calls , the Arnold Transit Company finally contacted us to clear up questions about its future.
T he CEO Brent Rippe says his ferries will be running this summer.
Y et Mackinac Island says the company still hasn't responded to its request for a letter of intent.
H e says that he plans on having ferry and freight services up and running by the start of the summer season.
B ut at this point he says they are still working out details with new operating partners on the island and says the situation is fluid.
T hat answer wasn't good enough for one of the island's resorts that switched services because they felt the ferry's future was uncertain.
"W e have a broad outline, a broad structure of how we are going to do this ," Rippe said. "W e are trying to work through the details of who is taking on what responsibilities and how we are going to move forward here. "
I f the Arnold Transit Company does plan on following through with their promise of running this summer, they will have get things going soon.
B oth Starline and Sheplers ferries are scheduled to start running on May 2nd.
