Arnold Transit CEO: 'We will run this season'

T he Arnold Transit Company has been running ferries to and from Mackinac Island since 1878.

fter nearly a dozen calls

,

the
Arnold Transit Company finally contacted us to clear up questions about its future.


T

he
CEO Brent Rippe says his ferries will be running this summer.

Mackinac Island says the company still hasn't responded to its request for a letter of intent.


H

e says that he plans on having ferry and freight services up and running by the start of the summer season.


B

ut at this point he says they are still working out details with new operating partners on the island and says the situation is fluid.


T

hat answer wasn't good enough for one of the island's resorts that switched services because they felt the ferry's future was uncertain.


"W

e have a broad outline, a broad structure of how we are going to do this

," Rippe said.



"W

e are trying to work through the details of who is taking on what responsibilities and how we are going to move forward here.

"

f the
Arnold Transit Company does plan on following through with their promise of running this summer, they will have get things going soon.

Starline and Sheplers ferries are scheduled to start running on May 2nd.
