Arrest made in connection to Benzie County overdose death

Robert L. Maycroft faces up to life in prison for allegedly providing the drugs that killed 21-year-old Christopher Hobart in February.

An arrest has been made in connection with the overdose death of a 21-year-old Benzie County man.

Robert L. Maycroft faces up to life in prison for allegedly providing the drugs that killed 21-year-old Christopher Hobart in February.

Maycroft was charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, delivery or manufacturing of a narcotic of less than 50 grams, and fourth offense habitual offender notice.

The arrest is the culmination of a three-month investigation into the overdose death of Christopher Hobart on Feb. 16, 2014 in Homestead Township.

The initial investigation into Hobart's death indicated no signs of foul play, but investigators believed illegal drug use played a role in his death.

Maycroft is being held on a $2 million bond.
