Arrest warrant issued to driver killing a 17-year-old pedestrian
A warrant is issued on Monday for the driver of a car involved in hitting and killing a 17-year-old pedestrian in Roscommon County.
The accident happened Sunday, May 25 when a car struck a girl on Federal Ave near Joliet Ave.
State Police were told by the 36-year-old driver that she was reaching for a pack of cigarettes when she went off the road and hit the girl.
The 17-year-old pedestrian died four days after she was hit.
The Roscommon County Prosecutor's Office authorized a warrant for the driver's arrest.
She will be charged with a moving violation causing death, which is a misdemeanor.
If found guilty, the driver could face a maximum penalty of one year in jail.
