The Traverse Bay Sunrise Rotary Club held it??s annual ??Stuffing Night?? tonight loading school supplies into backpacks for students.Tonight the club hit their goal of stuffed more than 14,000 backpacks since the start of the project in 2004.Committee Chair, David Payne says they had more than 60 volunteers stuffing 1,300 backpacks this year.
He says the need for supplies and backpacks continues to grow each year.Traverse City public schools provide the club with a list of students eligible to participate in the program each year.The club not only supplies backpacks to public schools but also Goodwill as well as Students in Transition Empowerment Programs.
