Barn destroyed in fire

A fire in Kalkaska County left a barn and several vehicles completely burned.

KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A fire in Kalkaska County left a barn and several vehicles completely burned.

Around 7 a.m. Tuesday a neighbor reported the fire off of M-66 near Cool Road south of Kalkaska, according to the Kalkaska Township Fire Department.

Crews reported there were three cars, two camper trailers and a couple snowmobiles in the barn that are all burned.

The cause of the fire isn't known. The owners of the house said the barn was unheated and had electrical hooked up but it wasn't on.

Crews said this is the worst weather to fight a fire in, they have to worry about water in the hoses and trucks freezing.
