Barn fire kills dozens of animals
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Dozens of animals died in a barn fire Wednesday morning in Osceola County.
The fire broke out around 9 a.m. and the Evart Fire Department was called to 8349 30th Avenue in Evart.
According to the assistant fire chief, between 60 and 70 animals were killed in the fire.
Goats, chickens, lambs and piglets were in the barn and many of them were being raised for 4-H projects, the assistant fire chief said.
Several fire departments were on the scene for two to three hours fighting the blaze.
According to the assistant fire chief, no people were injured but the building was destroyed.
Investigators believe the cause could have been a heat lamp but are still looking for the source of the fire.
