Beach hazard statement issued for northern Michigan on July 22

The National Weather Service released a beach hazard statement for Tuesday, July 22 for northern lower Michigan, eastern upper Michigan, as well as adjacent near shore waters of Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Superior.
The hazardous weather outlook is for a high risk of rip currents on the Lake Michigan beaches of northwest lower Michigan as well as the beaches along US-2 W of the Mackinac Bridge. The high risk extends from Mackinac County down to Ludington. The statement included high wave action, strong currents as well as dangerous swimming.
The expected thunderstorms is expected to hit northern lower Michigan late this afternoon through the evening.
