One day after being shut down, two popular Northern Michigan Beaches are back open for swimmers. On Thursday, health officials warned swimmers at two Leelanau County beaches to avoid full body contact.
Water samples taken at the Suttons Bay Marina and the Suttons Bay Park showed high levels of E.coli.
The health department issued a level 2 advisory for the swim areas as a result, which means swimmers should avoid water contact above the waist.
The water was resampled Thursday afternoon to see if the E.coli levels fall into a safe zone. Those results showed the levels had dropped to a safe level, and the advisory was lifted Friday.
