A weekend boat crash landed a Newaygo man in hot water.

According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department, the crash occurred on Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. on the Muskegon River near Parker's Landing. Authorities say the boat driven by the 50-year-old Newaygo man crashed into a stationary fishing boat at a "high rate of speed."

The suspect then fled the scene.

The Sheriff's Department says excessive damage was done to both boats. No injuries were reported.

He was arrested on a unrelated parole and probation violation earlier this week and is being held in the Ottawa County Jail. Mecosta County Sheriff's officials are seeking a warrant for operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless operation.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the suspect until he is arraigned.
