Police believe a body found in Missouri may be that of Fred Byrnes, the Big Rapids man who went missing in February.
The body was found just a quarter mile of where Byrnes' car was found in the Mark Twain National Forest days after he originally went missing. Police say the body was in an "advanced state of decomposition."
Byrnes, 49, went missing Feb. 12, after he dropped his son off at Hope College in Holland and visited his mother. His mother said he mentioned as he was leaving that he was going to pick up a Valentine's Day gift for his wife.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday and will confirm the identity.
