Three bicyclists found a body on a Lake Michigan beach.
The man's body was found Tuesday night along the beach about 3 miles north of Big Point Sable Lighthouse, which is located north of Ludington. The body was about 65 feet from the water's edge.
The man's identity wasn't immediately known by authorities.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Authorities do believe, however, the body is that of an African-American man about 5'11" tall weighing approximately 180 pounds. They believe he was an adult.
The body had two identifiable tattoos on his upper left chest above his left nipple. One is a pyramid and above that is a tattoo of a half-moon with a star.
Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole says the man's body may have been on the beach for months. They're checking reports of missing people for possible clues.
