A beach advisory has been posted at Harbor Cove in Harbor Springs, until the results of a water sample test from the Harbor Cove area come back from the Emmet County Health Department with an acceptable amount of bacteria.
Two sewage pumps were disabled during a thunderstorm Monday afternoon.
Scott Anderson, Harbor Springs Area Sewage Disposal Authority Manager, said the first pump went down around 11:30.
Anderson said about an hour later the second pump was also inoperative.
After both pumps stopped working, between 2,000 and 4,000 gallons of sewage overflowed from the waste water station near the intersection of Beach and Page Hill Roads.
Results of the water sample test from Harbor Cove are expected to be issued Wednesday.
Some of the water has been treated with a lime disinfectant.
