Business rocked by overnight burglary
Manistee Police are investigating another business break-in.
Employees at Blue Waters Cafe at 155 8th St. arrived Tuesday morning to find the window on the front door smashed in. A large rock was also found just inside the building.
The owner of the restaurant tells 7&4 News the person who entered the restaurant tried to get money from the cash register. No money was taken however, because it's cleared out each night.
7&4 News will continue to update this story with more information as details on the investigation are released. It's not known at this time if police believe the crime is connected to several other robberies in Manistee.
In December , someone broke into CR Reusch Jewelers in downtown Manistee and stole $5,000 to $6,000 in jewelry. In this break-in the front door was also smashed in during the overnight hours. The jewelry store did have surveillance cameras and the video was turned over to police.
On New Year's Eve an armed man entered Little Caesars Pizza on U.S. 31 in the City of Manistee and confronted the employees at gunpoint. The victim was ordered to the ground and searched for a cell phone by the suspect. The suspect then closed the two employees on duty in the bathroom and ordered them to stay there or he would kill them. The suspect then was heard opening the cash register and then running out the back door of the restaurant.
On New Year's Day, a gunman matching the description of the robber from the night before entered the A & W restaurant on US-31 and walked into the back room to confront the employees who were closing out the till from the shift.
