Businesses gather for annual Northern Michigan Manufacturing Summit
More than 40 businesses gathered at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City Tuesday for the 4th annual Northern Michigan Manufacturing Summit.
The theme was growing business.
The owners of Ferris Nut and Coffee, a Grand Rapids based company, delivered the keynote address.
They talked about how their 94-year-old business faced challenges, but was able to rebuild and grow.
Organizers say they hope the summit inspires local manufacturers to do the same.
"We find that when you can get people out of your workplace, whether you work at the bank or in a factory, and you can talk about what you do, people learn," said Rob Summers, with the Grand Traverse Area Manufacturing Council. "So we just try to give them a forum to get out and talk."
