The Wexford County Sheriff's Department arrested two people Friday suspected of stealing a Cadillac News delivery truck.
Officers from the Cadillac Police Department responded to the report of a Cadillac News delivery truck being stuck in a snow bank on East River Street near Hemlock Street, but witnesses reported that the truck had gotten unstuck and left the area at high speeds, losing some of its load.
Police contacted the Cadillac News and learned the truck had been stolen.
Citizens assisted police and deputies, continuing to call in reports of the delivery truck losing its load. Wexford County Sheriff's deputies tracked down the stolen truck on a two-track seasonal road off of 30 Road, just west of 41 Road. One person was arrested at that scene, but a second person fled the scene on foot. With the assistance of the Wexford County Sheriff's Department K9 unit, the second person was found hiding in the woods.
The suspected driver was taken into custody for unlawful driving away of an automobile, operating while intoxicated - second offense, driving while license is suspended, CCW violation, simple assault, and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. The passenger was taken into custody for unlawful driving away of an automobile, minor in possession of alcohol, and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
The names of the suspects are being withheld until they are formally arraigned.
