Charges have been issued for two people after dozens of animals were found in 'deplorable' conditions.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Two people are facing charges after dozens of animals were found in what police called deplorable conditions at a Grand Traverse County home.

Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney has issued charges for Lacie and Joseph Plowman, the people who own the home where the animals were found.

Cooney said Lacie and Joseph are each being charged with animal abuse/ neglect of 10 animals or more.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department has issued an order to vacate the house because it is unfit to live in.

At least 17 dogs and 10 cats were found in poor health with feces matted to their fur.

Officials are asking for the home to be condemned.
