Charlevoix community celebrates 5th annual Groundhog Shadow Fest
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- People from Charlevoix and surrounding communities celebrated the 5th annual Groundhog Shadow Fest in downtown Charlevoix on Saturday.
People got to enjoy Saturday's fresh snow fall, a pancake breakfast, kid’s games, disk golf and a beer tent.
This year the event also had a soup contest where nine local businesses participated.
Organizers say this is a great way to bring people back downtown during the winter and shop at local businesses.
“We have such a strong sense of community and we have been through a lot lately,” said Maureen Owens event co-chair. “It's just brought us tighter together and we like to get out have fun and embrace the winter. Our town is gorgeous every season.”
7&4's storm team meteorologist Joe Charlevoix was also at the event.
Joe was honored in the opening ceremony and became an official honorary citizen of Charlevoix.
