Charlevoix High School evacuated after rumor of a bomb threat
Charlevoix High School was evacuated Friday morning after a report of a possible bomb threat.
According to Superintendent Bob Gendron, a student heard a rumor that there was a bomb on school property.
The school was evacuated around 9:45 a.m. and students were taken to the Middle School, which has been vacant all year.
Gendron says authorities do not believe there was any validity to the threat. Police are on the scene investigating with K9 units, however.
He said while he doesn't believe the threat is real, school officials take these situations very seriously, which is why they evacuated.
Gendron said they hope to get the kids back into school within an hour.
