Cheboygan County launches initiative to boost local economy

Cheboygan County is looking to launch a new marketing plan to help boost the local economy.
The program, called Great Up North Initiative, hopes to boost travel, tourism and residency in the county.
Organizers hope to develop a strong enough plan to draw in funding from the state's highly successful Pure Michigan campaign.
If awarded the funds, it would double the amount of money that could be put towards advertising campaigns around Michigan and the Midwest.
7&4's Nathan Edwards will be speaking with county officials and business owners to see how they're coming together to make this program a reality.
