Cheboygan man charged with aiding the escape of a prisoner
A 24-year-old Cheboygan man is being charged with aiding the escape of a prisoner from the Cheboygan County Jail in November of 2013.
Jeremy Adam Nelson, 24, was arrested for aiding the escape of a prisoner and accessory after the fact.
According to the Cheboygan County Sheriff, Nelson allegedly assisted in the escape of Donald Chaffin on Nov. 15, 2013 by helping Chaffin avoid law enforcement and helping him leave the area.
Donald Chaffin walked away from the Cheboygan County Jail on November 15 while on detail outside.
Chaffin was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Oklahoma on December 20 and was extradited back to Michigan.
Nelson's bond was set at $10,000. He is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary exam on Feb. 19.
