Winter is definitely still here as the cold temperatures and light snow stay with us Saturday night and through Sunday.
Many areas across northern Michigan saw blue skies throughout the day Saturday, and even though the E. U.P. and along Lake Michigan/towards I-75 had more cloud cover in the afternoon, there were still peeks of sun here and there.
The great thing this weekend was lighter winds, which gave us much less of a wind chill - making it bearable to get out and enjoy all of the great winter activities!
Lows for Saturday night will generally be in the single digits.
Low pressure is making its way towards us from the plains, and will cross through the L.P. during the day Sunday. This is touching off some lighter snow showers for the southern counties, and will continue to do so across the entire viewing area Sunday. We'll still see some sunshine to end the weekend, and accumulations look to be light.
Winds will generally be out of the south Satuday night, but shift out of the northwest as the system passes through.
Behind the system, as is usual with northern Michigan, we'll see some lake effect clouds and light snow showers heading into Monday.
Highs Sunday and Monday will be mainly in the teens, and even the northwest wind at 5-15mph will cause a wind chill closer to zero. Remember to bring your pets indoors!
Our next chance of snow looks to arrive mid-week.
