City commissioners put temporary ban on food trucks

Happy's Taco Shop is one of the food trucks that wanted to set up shop in Boyne City.

Food trucks will not be allowed to operate in Boyne City, at least in certain areas.

Boyne City Commissioners decided to put a temporary ban on food trucks on public property Tuesday night.

The moratorium will be in effect for 90 days.

City Manager Mike Cain says more than 26 people spoke at Tuesday's meeting. Overall, the public is split.

Cain says commissioners want to be careful, and they need more time to make a decision.

Food truck owners who want to operate on private property will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
