Boaters may see a difference in the North Pier Head Light near Manistee next week.
The Coast Guard announced Friday that it will replace the lantern and solarize the light along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.
The new lantern will change the color of the light from white to green and the light flash characteristic from ISO W 6s to FL G 6(1)s.
The Coast Guard says the green light will make the channel lateral, meaning the red on the right and green on the left when returning to port.
The range of the new light will be 12 statute miles.
The changes to the light are scheduled to occur on Monday.
