Coast Guard cutter leaves giant ice cubes in its wake
BEAVER ISLAND, Mich (WPBN/WGTU) -- Beaver Island residents are reaping the benefit of a successful fuel delivery with the help of two Coast Guard icebreakers and also enjoying the scenery of giant ice cubes left behind.
The U.S.C.G Cutter Mobile Bay cleared ice from the outer and southern harbor last week creating the giant ice cubes.
After the Mobile Bay broke up the ice, the U.S.C.G Cutter Mackinaw escorted the tug Shamrock and tanker Petro Queen to Beaver Island's Paradise Bay.
The tanker was loaded with fuel to replenish Beaver Island's dwindling supply.
