Community dance team raising money for first competition

The Starz are raising money for their first competition next month.

A community dance team needs your help to get to their first competition.

The All American Starz is a free dance team for girls ages 6 to 12 in the Traverse City Area.

It's focused on teaching girls teamwork and self esteem, at no cost to families.

The Starz are raising money for their first competition in Grand Rapids next month.

On Friday, they're hosting a spaghetti dinner at the Salvation Army on Barlow Street in Traverse City. It goes from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Spaghetti and meatballs, salad and drinks will be served. There will also be on-site babysitting so parents can relax.

There is an $8 suggested donation for adults, and $5 suggested donation for kids.

The All American Starz was founded by Ms. Michigan State America Jessica Mason Froehlich.

She volunteers her time as coach, and The Salvation Army donates space for the team to practice.
