Construction crew injured after building collapse
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Four people were taken to area hospitals after a building under construction collapsed.
It happened just after 11 a.m. Thursday at the former VFW off of M-32 in East Jordan. The building is being turned into a thrift store and is currently under construction.
The Charlevoix County Sheriff said four workers were on the rafters when a gust of wind collapsed the building. The construction workers fell about 15 to 20 feet to the ground.
There were three other workers on site, one working a crane and two others on the ground who were not hurt.
According to the Sheriff none of the injuries are life-threatening, however, one person was airlifted to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City with head injuries, facial injuries and hip injuries. Two people were taken to McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey and one person was taken to Munson Healthcare in Charlevoix.
