Construction impacts profit of local business
Itâ??s week two of construction for one of the main stretches of road into Traverse City.
Construction on Front St. in Traverse City started Monday, Aug. 25, and has been making it hard for some customers to get in and out of businesses.
Elmerâ??s crews have been working on Front St. from the western city limits to Elmwood Ave, and the road is closed to all traffic.
They are reconstructing the underground utilities and completely redoing Front Street.
This means potentially fewer people stopping into shops.
One business owner says the construction hasn't affected their regular customers, but could still be digging into their profit.
â??Sales have gone down about 25 percent and that is quite a bit, but it is something I can survive on and keep the hours so that when people do make their way here I'm open for them,â?? says West Side Beverage owner Tom Gretzmacher.
The construction on West Front St. is set to be completed by Oct.13.
