Couple facing charges for letting kids drink after prom
A Cheboygan couple is facing criminal charges for letting minors drink alcohol in their home after prom.
Mark and Catherine Pearson were arrested Tuesday and charged with misdemeanors.
On May 3rd, sheriff's deputies found two suspicious vehicles parked behind a church off M-33.
Two sixteen-year-olds and an 18-year-old were there, sleeping off their alcohol. The teens told deputies they had left the Pearson residence after drinking.
Deputies searched the Pearson's home and found alcohol, marijuana and crushed prescription pills.
Several teenagers were cited for MIP, and there may be drug charges on the way.
"It is illegal and it is irresponsible for them to do that," Sheriff Dale Clarmont said. "We will prosecute because these kids are going to get away from them, these kids are going to get on the road and these kids are going to hurt themselves or others".
The Pearsons are out on bond and will be arraigned on June 11th.
