Although the summer has been a little cooler than normal the weekends have fared pretty well for outdoor activities. That will change this weekend with two rounds of rain on the way with a little break in-between later Saturday.
The first shot at some rain and perhaps a clap of thunder or two will arrive Friday evening then into the overnight and early morning hours of Saturday. Clouds will gradually increase ahead of a warm front with showers holding off until evening before they become much more numerous overnight. Highs Friday will be in the 70's with much warmer weather Friday night as clouds and southwest winds will keep temperatures in the 60's overnight along with the aforementioned rain.
Saturday will start off cloudy with some rain still ongoing, but with time Saturday, showers will taper off with the clouds even breaking up some leading to some later day sunshine. From a weather standpoint, Saturday evening may be the best part of the weekend with a break from the rain, 70's and again some late day sun.
It won't last long though with a more powerful front cold front arriving Sunday. This system has a few characteristics of what we would be more likely to see in the fall with what could be a fairly widespread rain much of Sunday for Northern Michigan along with some embedded thunderstorms. Highs Sunday will still get into the 70's but by the end of the weekend a few areas could tally more than an inch of rain.
Cooler weather settles back in next week with Monday only topping out in the mid/upper-60's.
