Crisman sentenced to 25-50 years in sexual assault case
The Charlevoix County man who faced two sexual assault charges was sentenced to 25-50 years in prison Friday.
Floyd Bernath Crisman, 60, plead no contest to two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct involving two victims under the age of 13.
According to the Charlevoix County Prosecutor, Crisman repeatedly sexually assaulted two young girls when they were between the ages of four and eight.
Crisman was charged with one count in 1993 but the case stalled when he failed to appear in court and fled the area.
Crisman was extradited from Arizona in late November on the charges. The prosecutor says he later confessed to the crimes.
"As one of the victims stated in court at the sentencing, this is a great day for the victims," said Prosecutor Allen Teglehof. "They do not have to be afraid of this man anymore. The judge's sentence makes it highly unlikely that Mr. Crisman will ever be free again."
