CWTA rural service in jeopardy
People living in rural areas of Wexford County could lose access to Cadillac Wexford Transit Authority busing this fall.
The board of commissioners will hold a meeting Wednesday to talk about putting a millage renewal for CWTA back on the ballot this November.
Funding for the busing runs out in October
The millage would cost the owner of a $100,000 house around $30 a year.
"They rely on that service. Sometimes to get to appointments for medical care, some people use it to reach employment and some people just rely on in general for transportation, because they either can't afford a vehicle or don't have one. Perhaps they don't drive, there's a multitude of reasons but it gets pretty good use," Wexford County Administrator Ken Hinton said.
The CWTA will be extending hours of operation Wednesday night to serve people who have interest in going to the meeting.
The meeting will take place at the Wexford county courthouse at 5pm.
