Deputies investigating woman's death in Grand Traverse County
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU)-- An investigation is underway after deputies say a 36-year-old woman was found dead in a pond.
The woman, identified as Brooke Blake, was found Sunday around 7 a.m. in a pond near a condo complex on the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa property in Acme Township.
According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, Brooke's husband found her dead in the pond next to the condo. The Grand Rapids woman was staying in the condo while visiting the area with family.
Deputies say an autopsy was performed on Brooke and showed she did not have any traumatic injuries.
Deputies are continuing their investigation as they wait for a final report from the pathologist who will determine the cause and manner of Brooke's death.
The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa released the following statement on Brooke's death:
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017, emergency and law enforcement officials were called to Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme, Mich. to respond to the report of a deceased guest.
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The thoughts and prayers of the Resort’s management and staff are with the family of the deceased guest.
The Resort will have no further comment, as the investigation is ongoing.
