A Drummond Island man pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct Wednesday.
According to the Chippewa County Prosecutor's Office, Kevin Walter Corrion, 48, took the plea deal that would drop two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The prosecutor said the case involved the sexual assault of a woman on Drummond Island in Aug. 2012.
"We always believed in the victim, but the guilty pleas and public admission by Corrion were important for the victim," assistant prosecutor Jim Robinson said. "The victim's courage inspired all of us working on this case."
Third-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and lifetime GPS monitoring and compliance with the Michigan Sex Offender Registry.
Sentencing will be held in late July.
