      Drunk driving crash lands Osceola County man behind bars

      According to the Traverse City Police Department, the man was driving west on College Drive near the College Library when the driver lost control on a curve, went across the eastbound lane, over the curb and hit a group of pine trees.

      A 21-year-old Marion man was arrested after crashing into trees near Northwestern Michigan College.

      The incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday on College Driver near NMC.

      According to the Traverse City Police Department, the man was driving west on College Drive near the College Library when the driver lost control on a curve, went across the eastbound lane, over the curb and hit a group of pine trees.

      The car became stuck on a larger pine tree.

      A wrecker had to be used to get the car off of the tree and tow it from the scene.

      The driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed, but after the investigation the driver was arrested for operating under the influence first offense.

      The man was held at the Grand Traverse County Jail. His name will not be released until he is arraigned.
